U.S. warplanes strike Houthis in Yemen

On December 17, the American military carried out an airstrike on a Houthi command and control facility in Yemen. About this informs Reuters.

“The target of the strike was the center of coordination of Houthi operations, such as attacks on US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden”, – said the statement of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces.

Since the beginning of the year, the United States and Great Britain have repeatedly struck Houthi positions in Yemen in response to their attacks on civilian and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The Houthis, for their part, claim that their actions are aimed solely at vessels linked to Israel and are intended to express support for the Palestinian people during the war in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, the United States announced its intention to maintain a military presence in the Red Sea region to, together with an international coalition, ensure the safety of civilian vessels from attacks by militants supported by Iran.

In November, the US military launched a series of airstrikes against Houthi weapons depots in Yemen in response to their attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
