Ukraine called on Chile, Argentina and Uruguay to help return deported children
The Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights continues to make efforts to return Ukrainian children illegally deported to Russia. Active work on this issue is being conducted in the international arena. The other day, the Ukrainian delegation visited Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. Officials called on the countries of Latin America to assist in the return of young Ukrainians to the Motherland.
The Ukrainian delegation included a representative of the ombudsman for equal rights and freedoms, rights of national minorities, political and religious views Mykhailo Spasov. He called on the representatives of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay to join the International Coalition of Countries for the Return of Ukrainian Children, as well as the International Platform for the Release of Illegally Detained Russian Civilians.
In addition, the Ukrainian side called on the countries of Latin America to recognize Russia’s actions in Ukraine as a crime of genocide.
Dozens of countries have already joined the coalition for the return of Ukrainian children.
According to the calculations of the Office of the Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights, more than 19,000 minor Ukrainians can be classified as “deported”. They were taken to territories not controlled by Ukraine, to Belarus or Russia. So far, only 669 deported children have been returned.
Currently, one of the key mediators in the negotiations regarding the return of small Ukrainians is Line up.
