Ukraine granted permission to Poland to conduct a new exhumation of the victims of the Volyn tragedy

Ukraine granted Poland permission to carry out search and exhumation works in the village of Ugly in the Rivne region. This was stated Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Bodnar.

The ambassador reported that he signed a note by which the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine gave the Polish side permission to conduct search operations in this settlement.

“This permit was issued in response to Karolina Romanovska’s request. The Ukrainian side invites the relevant representatives of the Polish side to participate in the relevant work on site. I would like to emphasize once again: Ukraine and I are personally ready to continue to cooperate with Polish partners in the historical sphere and on matters of exhumation. We are open and honest. Only in this way will we be able to reach a true understanding, Vasyl Bodnar explained.

He expressed hope that the Polish side would be ready for a frank dialogue on difficult issues of common history. Vasyl Bodnar added that Ukraine will soon issue new permits for search and exhumation works, in particular in Huta Peniatskyi in the Lviv region and in Ugly in the Rivne region.

We would like to remind you that at the beginning of September in Ternopil Oblast, with the participation of a Polish delegation, the remains of residents of the village of Puzhnyki, found during exhumations, were reburied.
