Ukraine has already established contact with the new Syrian government: Foreign Ministry

Ukraine has already started a dialogue with the new Syrian government, establishing contacts at the ministerial level. About this stated the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tyhiy.

“We made a statement outlining Ukraine’s readiness to restore diplomatic relations in working with Syria. We will see how the new government will act. We understand that the previous Assad regime did not recognize the violation of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, which is why diplomatic relations were broken. If this policy will change, we are ready to restore diplomatic relations,” – said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his statement, Tykhi outlined the prospects for further cooperation, stressing that Ukraine will closely monitor the actions of the new Syrian government. According to him, readiness to restore relations will depend on whether Syria demonstrates support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Regarding the details of contacts with the new Syrian government, the Foreign Ministry spokesman refrained from divulging details, stressing that he could only provide limited information at this time. He also added that work on establishing communication between the countries continues, and the Ukrainian side hopes for a constructive dialogue.
