Ukraine’s losses in the war with Russia reached 55,000 dead soldiers: Zelensky
55,000 Ukrainian soldiers have officially died on the battlefield in Ukraine. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the France 2 TV channel . According to the head of state, this concerns both professional military personnel and mobilized personnel, and the real picture of losses is complicated by the large number of missing persons.
“In Ukraine, 55,000 military personnel, both professional and mobilized, have officially died on the battlefield,”, – said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The president also drew attention to the fact that some of the defenders who do not get in touch and are not confirmed as dead are registered as missing, which does not allow us to definitively determine the full number of losses. He stressed that these people could be in captivity or in temporarily occupied territories.
Zelensky recalled that data on the dead are updated as confirmations and identification results are received. In previous statements, the head of state has already noted that the scale of losses remains one of the most painful topics for the country during the war with Russia, as thousands of families still do not have accurate information about the fate of their loved ones.
Back in February last year, the President reported in a interview with NBC about more than 46 thousand dead Ukrainian soldiers, as well as tens of thousands of missing and those in Russian captivity.
