Ukraine will receive a new $375 million aid package from the United States: what will the Armed Forces receive

The United States of America has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $375 million, which includes a wide range of weapons and equipment to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities. As reported in the Pentagon, the 66th tranche will include ammunition for HIMARS missile systems, artillery shells, as well as various systems and equipment to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In particular, the assistance package includes:

  • Air-to-ground ammunition;
  • Ammunition for HIMARS missile systems;
  • 155 mm and 105 mm caliber artillery shells;
  • TOW anti-tank missiles with optical guidance;
  • Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank complexes;
  • Armored security vehicles M1117;
  • MRAP vehicles with protection against mines and ambushes;
  • Light tactical vehicles;
  • Systems of armored bridges;
  • Small arms;
  • Patrol boats;
  • Explosive equipment and ammunition;
  • Spare parts and other auxiliary equipment.

This aid package is provided as part of the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) program, which allows the immediate transfer of military equipment and services from existing US stockpiles directly to Ukraine. Last fall, the US Congress allocated $6 billion for these needs.

The Pentagon emphasized that the United States, together with partners from more than 50 countries, continues to support Ukraine within the framework of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine, focusing efforts on strengthening the country’s defense capabilities and ensuring stability in the fight against aggression.

Recently, the media reported that the US is preparing another aid package for Ukraine, which will probably include surface-to-air missiles for F-16 fighters. This will complement the already announced measures aimed at strengthening the air defense of Ukraine.

On September 20, the Pentagon assured that they would use all the funds provided by Congress to the last cent. On September 24, Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov emphasized that the allocated $6 billion “will not burn” and will be used as intended.

At the same time, Politico reported that the White House is already working on an alternative plan to extend military aid to Ukraine after September 30, when the current program expires.
