Ukraine will temporarily suspend the registration and issuance of passports
In Ukraine, the service of processing and issuing passports will be suspended for several days. About this reported press service of the state enterprise “Dokument”. The reason for the temporary suspension of work is planned technical work aimed at maintaining the Unified State Demographic Register (USDR) system.
According to information, technical works will begin on December 13, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. Kyiv time. In this regard, passport registration and issuing services will be unavailable from 16:00 on December 13 and will continue until December 16, 2024 inclusive.
“The resumption of work will be further informed. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience”, the message says.
The unified state demographic register provides centralized processing of citizens’ data, necessary for issuing biometric documents. Technical work is necessary to maintain the stable operation of the registry and its security, especially in conditions of increased cyber threats.
Citizens who planned to issue or receive a passport in the coming days are advised to take these restrictions into account and plan their visits after the technical works are completed.
