Ukrainians expressed their attitude to joining the European Union and NATO: survey

According to 64% of respondents, Ukraine's membership in NATO and the EU are equally important.

Becoming a member of the European Union and NATO is equally important for two-thirds of Ukrainians surveyed. These were the results research, held in May and published on July 3 by the European Council on International Relations.

In particular, Ukrainians were asked what, in their opinion, is more important for the future of Ukraine.

According to 12% of respondents, joining the North Atlantic Alliance is the most important thing, and for 7% the priority is membership in the European Union. At the same time, 64% of respondents called Ukraine’s membership in NATO and the EU equally important. At the same time, for 15%, none of these options turned out to be important. Another 2% could not give an answer.

The authors of the study are convinced that, judging by such results, two-thirds of Ukrainian citizens consider EU membership as important as NATO membership, and in particular, Ukrainians seek to gain a foothold not only in the transatlantic security alliance, but also in the European political bloc.

During this study, 1.5 thousand respondents in Ukraine aged 18 and over were interviewed. In Ukraine, the survey was conducted by the companies Datapraxis and Rating Group.

We will remind that it was also held among European countries poll regarding the prospect of Ukraine’s victory in the war against the Russian Federation. Its results show that among the 14 member states of the European Union involved in the survey, only in Estonia the majority of respondents expressed their belief in the unconditional victory of Ukraine. Two thirds of Europeans polled are confident in the probability of a peaceful settlement of the war.
