Ukrainians issued 4.39 million microloans in the first half of 2025: Opendatabot

2.18 million microloans were issued in Ukraine from April to June 2025. In total, during the first half of the year, Ukrainians concluded 4.39 million contracts with microfinance organizations, reports Opendatabot.

In the second quarter, the average loan amount increased by 9% and amounted to UAH 6,029. Every month, citizens take out about 730,000 microloans. In the second quarter, the number of loans did not change compared to the previous one, but the average loan amount rose. At the same time, compared to last year, this indicator is almost the same.

In the first half of the year, 4.39 million contracts were concluded — 8% more than in the same period last year. The total volume of microloans issued during this time amounted to UAH 26.44 billion, which is also 8% higher than last year.

At the same time, Ukrainians began to repay loans more disciplinedly. If in the first quarter the debt for microloans increased by UAH 3.38 billion, then in the second – by only UAH 0.94 billion. In general, the debt to MFIs amounts to UAH 24.29 billion.

Demand for microloans is growing, but the number of companies providing them is decreasing. At the beginning of July 2025, 303 financial institutions with the appropriate license were operating in Ukraine — a quarter less than a year earlier. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the number of such companies has more than halved.
