“Ukrnafta” implements AI to increase oil production efficiency
Ukrnafta continues its course towards digital modernization, using artificial intelligence technologies as one of the key tools in working with subsoil and when making engineering and technological decisions. The use of neural networks allows to increase the accuracy of field development planning and increase the efficiency of oil production. This is reported on the official website of Ukrnafta.
The company’s Research and Design Institute has developed five specialized solutions based on artificial intelligence, which are already being implemented in production processes.
The first tool is designed for automated processing of large volumes of geological and industrial data. It provides text analysis, document structure recognition, automatic translation, and digital archive creation. By July 2026, it is planned to digitize 1.8 million scanned paper documents.
The second tool is responsible for recognizing and classifying geophysical survey curves. The system allows you to quickly and accurately digitize logging diagrams, automatically align them by depth, which significantly speeds up the process of determining productive layers.
The third solution is aimed at automatic interpretation of lithological and petrophysical characteristics. It predicts layer boundaries and potentially productive intervals throughout the depth of the section, helping to choose optimal field development strategies.
The fourth tool provides data preparation for creating digital three-dimensional models of fields. Thanks to the automated information processing cycle, the company gets the opportunity to create digital twins of deposits and manage them in real time.
The fifth solution is a recommendation system for selecting wells that are advisable to involve in intensification processes. It analyzes the accumulated experience of technological operations and forecasts flows, which allows you to effectively determine priority objects for work.
In 2026, Ukrnafta plans to expand the use of digital technologies, optimize production processes, forecast production in real time, automate the interpretation of seismic surveys, and apply intelligent systems for predicting equipment operation.
The company is gradually moving to a model in which hydrocarbon production in Ukraine is based on accurate data, digital models, and modern technological solutions, which should increase the efficiency of the industry and strengthen the energy sustainability of the state.
