Ukrposhta launches a new stamp “Melitopol is Ukraine”
Ukrposhta is launching a new postage stamp called “Melitopol is Ukraine!”, dedicated to the temporarily occupied city in the Zaporizhzhia region. About this informs the press service of the company.
“On June 26, 2025, the stamp ‘Melitopol is Ukraine!'” was put into circulation and considered valid for payment of postal services in all postal offices. – says the message.
As Ukrposhta explains, Melitopol is known throughout the country as the cherry capital. In the first days of the full-scale invasion, the city was captured by Russia, but even under the conditions of temporary occupation, among residents and all Ukrainians there is still hope for its return to free Ukraine.
The new stamp depicts the famous Melitopol cherries and a recognizable raccoon from the Kherson Zoo — as symbols of the fact that Ukrainians always return their own: both stolen land and stolen animals. The circulation of the issue is 900,000 copies, six stamps are placed on each sheet (3×2 format).
Artist Natalya Kohal was the author of the design. She also participated in the development of the “White Stork” and “Eastern Nightingale” stamps, which took first place in the “Best European Stamp – Collector’s Choice 2019” competition.
