Ukrzaliznytsia announced a shortage of wagons, which will make the summer season difficult

During the full-scale war, Russia destroyed 46 passenger cars of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia. Another 200 cars and one Intercity+ train are in the queue for repair after damage from shelling, drone attacks, and collisions.

In addition, 1,050 cars are awaiting inspection and possible removal from service due to a significant degree of wear and tear and unsuitable technical condition.

“This means that this summer season will be even more difficult for us than the previous one, because demand is growing, and the number of cars is the opposite,” Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized.

The company noted that currently the average ratio of demand to supply of seats on trains is four passengers per seat, and in the summer this figure may increase to six. Almost 10 thousand people are looking for tickets on the Lviv-Kyiv route every day.

Passengers are recommended to buy tickets 20 days before departure or use the auto-purchase function in the official application. UZ also advises to consider routes with transfers and international destinations through Moldova, Romania and Hungary.

“A difficult summer is ahead, but we continue to build new cars and increase the pace of repairs of old rolling stock in order to make travel affordable for everyone during the peak season,” the company added.

Ukrzaliznytsia also reminded that since the end of April, a dynamic pricing system has been in effect for SV cars and the first class of Intercity trains in domestic traffic.
