From May 12, 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia Joint Stock Company will launch the possibility of purchasing commuter tickets in a mobile application throughout the country. Previously, this service had limited geographical coverage. The expansion of the functionality will allow passengers to issue travel documents for trains remotely, regardless of the region of stay.
According to data from the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC, April became a record month for the number of purchased commuter tickets in digital format. The significant increase in the popularity of the service was facilitated by the successful integration of student benefits into the application system. During April, passengers steadily purchased about 15,000 online tickets per day. In addition, in the second month of spring, twice as many successful document processing operations were recorded compared to March results.
Statistics show a rapid change in passengers’ habits in choosing a payment method. If in January only 49,000 tickets were issued through digital channels, then in April this figure increased to 250,000. Thus, the number of online orders increased fivefold in a few months.
In parallel with the development of technological solutions, the company continues to strengthen security measures. Joint-Stock Company “Ukrzaliznytsia” is deploying more than 800 modular shelters throughout the country. Protective structures are manufactured directly at the company’s own industrial enterprises to ensure the safety of passengers and staff at stations and railway stations.
The introduction of new functions into the mobile application allows to significantly reduce queues at ticket offices and make rail transportation more comfortable. Full digitalization of suburban services remains a priority direction for the modernization of the national carrier’s services.
