US launches airstrike on three nuclear sites in Iran: Trump declares “historic moment” and end of war

The USA struck three Iranian nuclear facilities — Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. About this stated  Donald Trump in his post on the Truth Social platform on the night of June 22. According to him, the operation was completed successfully, all American planes left the airspace of Iran and returned to the bases. A full supply of specialized bombs was dropped on the facility in Fordow, which is considered one of the most fortified.

“We have successfully completed the attack on three nuclear facilities in Iran, including Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. All aircraft are now outside Iranian airspace. A full complement of bombs has been dropped on the main facility, Fordo. All aircraft are returning home safely. Congratulations to our great American warriors. No other military in the world could have done this. IT’S TIME FOR PEACE!” Trump wrote.

He also called the operation “a historic moment for the United States, Israel and the world” and said that Iran “must now agree to end this war.”

According to the American media, GBU-57 deep-penetrating aerial bombs were used to attack Fordo, which brought down six B-2 bombers that took off from the base on Diego Garcia Island. Facilities in Natang and Isfahan were reportedly hit by Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from submarines in the Persian Gulf.

These US actions were a continuation of the Israeli campaign of airstrikes, which has been ongoing since June 13. Israel has attacked dozens of targets linked to Iran’s missile program and drone production. The Israeli authorities have already expressed support for the American operation: Prime Minister Netanyahu called it a “brilliant strategic decision.”

Iran has not officially commented on the extent of the damage, but local sources report explosions near Isfahan and a temporary restriction of access to the Fordo district. Videos of smoke and sirens near the site of the strikes appeared on social media. Iran’s state media called the actions of the US and Israel a “gross violation of sovereignty” and threatened a harsh response.

UN Secretary General António Guterres called on the parties to exercise restraint and warned of the threat of a full-scale conflict. An urgent meeting was announced in the European Union, and the IAEA announced its intention to check whether nuclear materials had been damaged. In the US, the reaction was divided: Republicans supported the action, Democrats criticized it due to the lack of approval from Congress and the risk of escalation.

It will be recalled that on June 19, the White House reported that Trump would make a decision on strikes within two weeks, depending on the progress of negotiations with Tehran regarding the nuclear program. The negotiations never took place.

Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan are key elements of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. If Trump’s assessment is confirmed, the strike could significantly affect Tehran’s ability to continue its uranium enrichment program. At the same time, the danger of a new phase of the war is growing in the region.
