NATO announced the start of the Eastern Sentinel operation

NATO announced the start of the Eastern Guard operation. (Eastern Sentry), aimed at strengthening the security of the eastern flank of the Alliance after the fall of Russian drones on the territory of Poland. This was announced by Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte during a press conference at NATO headquarters in Brussels .

He emphasized that the downing of Russian drones in Poland was “not an isolated incident”, recalling similar incidents in Romania, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Rutte also sharply condemned the actions of Moscow, saying that they are “ along our eastern flank” are “dangerous and unacceptable”.

“NATO is launching Operation Eastern Sentinel to further strengthen our position on the eastern flank. This military operation will begin in the coming days and will attract a number of resources from allies, including Denmark, France, Great Britain, Germany and others, the NATO Secretary General said.

At the same press conference, General Alexus Hrynkevich, the Supreme Commander of NATO’s Joint Armed Forces in Europe, clarified that the order to start the operation has already been given.

“It will take some time for us to put everything together’with new contributions coming in, and we will continue to work on it and improve the structure of the operation moving forward, but it starts immediately”, Alexus Hrynkevich noted.
