According to Volts, one of the priorities will be to revise approaches to providing assistance to Ukraine, in particular, the development of economic partnership and cooperation in the field of critical minerals. He stressed that the United States expects to benefit from significant investments directed to Ukraine, and expressed hope for the early signing of relevant agreements. Among the main directions of Trump’s policy on Russia’s war against Ukraine, Volz highlighted: signing of an agreement on cooperation in the field of rare earth metals; Achieving a ceasefire; Reviewing U.S. relations with Russia; Strengthening engagement with European allies. During the opening of the summit, Zelenskyi emphasized that Ukraine is ready to exchange prisoners with Russia on the principle of “all for all”. According to the president, one of the real signals of Russia’s readiness for peace could be the release of all Ukrainian prisoners of war.
“And now such a step could be the release of prisoners. A thousand. Indeed thousands of people held in Russia. And some of them not only since 2022, but much earlier, since 2014. Russia must release the Ukrainians. Ukraine is ready to exchange “all for all”. And this is a fair option, Zelensky said.
Several hundred participants take part in the summit. Among them are the leaders of 12 countries, as well as the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
