US plans to cut arms procurement budget for Ukraine in 2026

In 2026, the United States of America plans to reduce the budget for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine. This was stated by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, informs Associated Press.

“There are cuts in the budget for this”, – Hegset explained during a hearing in the House of Representatives of the US Congress, answering questions from congressmen about the future supply of weapons to Ukraine.

According to him, “the current administration looks at the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in a completely different way.”

“We believe that a peace agreement through negotiations is the best solution in the interests of both parties and our country, especially given the conflicting trends around the world.”, – added the head of the Pentagon.

Currently, Ukraine receives from the USA only those weapons, the transfer of which was approved by the administration of former US President Joe Biden. The current President of the United States, Donald Trump, has not yet made any decisions regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

Recently, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, proposed that the United States transfer new military aid to Ukraine at the expense of those funds previously allocated by Congress last year. At the beginning of last month, it became known that the US State Department sent a message to Congress about a license to export arms to Ukraine in the amount of at least 50 million dollars.
