VAKS extended procedural duties to former Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshov

The High Anti-Corruption Court has extended for another two months the term of procedural duties for former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov, who is suspected of abusing his official position and receiving an illegal benefit. This was reported by the press service of the Anti-Corruption Center.

Prosecutor insisted on the extension of duties assigned to the official:

“The bail is over 120 million, money was paid for it. Risks: avoidance of court, influence on witnesses and experts. He has a passport, he left 10 times during martial law. He has connections related to the position and personal, he will be able to evade the court. His mother lives in France, his son studies in Switzerland. Also, last year he indicated the wrong place of residence in the declaration, he indicated that he lives in an apartment in Pechersk. During the investigation, they learned that he lives in the suburbs of Kyiv, in a house of more than 1,000 square meters. m”.

The representative of the SAP emphasized that there is no reason to soften the preventive measure and it is necessary to continue the duties, including appearing at the request of an investigator or judge, not leaving Ukraine, not contacting other parties in the case, and reporting a change of residence.

The lawyers said that their client will not communicate with the parties in the case:

We do not see warnings to extend the terms. Regarding the item to notify about a change of residence outside of Ukraine. Here one should not leave the borders of Ukraine, but not the borders of the house. It is not correctly formulated here.

Chernyshov himself stated that he does not object to the continuation of procedural duties:

“At this stage, I am not opposed to continued duties. Hidden cars are delusional. As for business trips, they are official and agreed, there is no need to make inquiries to other countries and shame us. I accept continued duties to investigate. I don’t mind”.

Let us remind you that Chernyshov is suspected of abusing his official position and obtaining an unlawful benefit in a particularly large amount for himself and third parties. According to NABU, it is a bribe in the form of a discount on real estate with a total value of over UAH 14.5 million.

In addition, the investigation indicates that the developer gave the minister the book “ Collected works of Skovorody, tom pervyy” worth $1,000, which law enforcement officers seized during a search of his personal library.

According to NABU and SAP, developers Kopistira and Tatarenko organized a scheme to illegally acquire 11 hectares of land in Kyiv for the construction of a residential complex. According to the investigation, Chernyshov, who then held the position of Minister of Community Development, his adviser and other persons connected with him were involved in the implementation of this scheme.
