Viktor Orban announced a conversation with Vladimir Putin
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced that he plans to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated this in an interview with Magyar Nemzet.
“I will talk to Putin this morning, during the morning”, Orbán said.
On the evening of October 16, Orbán had a conversation with US President Donald Trump. Following the conversation, he announced the start of preparations for the Trump-Putin meeting in Budapest. Orban also stressed that there are many possible places for such a meeting outside of Europe, but the Hungarian capital is unique.
“There is no other place in Europe like Budapest. Hungary is the only peaceful country that has openly, loudly and actively spoken out on the side of peace over the past three years”, the Hungarian Prime Minister added.
Recall that on October 16, after a telephone conversation with Putin, Donald Trump said that their next meeting would take place in Budapest. This will be the second personal meeting between the leaders of the United States and Russia: the first took place on August 15, 2025 in Anchorage, the administrative center of the state of Alaska.
In addition, Trump is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on October 17. One of the main issues will be the possibility of providing Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles.
