Volodymyr Zelenskyi named three key blocks of security guarantees for Ukraine
On August 29, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, named the three main blocks of security guarantees for Ukraine, which relate to the army, NATO and sanctions against Russia. He announced this at a media briefing.
The first block is related to the army — the preservation of the current number of soldiers and their provision of weapons thanks to Ukrainian, European and American production:
“In my opinion, this block consists of funding the number of personnel that we have today. The ability to finance the army exactly in the amount that defends our borders today. No one says more, because no one will give more. But we cannot say less, because we are not going to conduct appropriate experiments.”
Next, according to him, we are talking about weapons for this army:
“There are three tracks that need to be supported and financed. And for this we need partners. The first track is domestic production: drones, technologies, etc. The second track is European production: air defense, artillery, etc. The third track is the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List, American weapons,” Zelenskyy explained.
The second block concerns NATO and involves agreements with partners at the level of leaders about their readiness to support Ukraine in the event of a new aggression. The third block is related to sanctions against Russia and the use of frozen Russian assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
We will remind you that on August 25, US President Donald Trump said that European countries are ready to provide essential security guarantees to Ukraine, and the US will “provide support”. The head of the White House emphasized that it is Europe that should take a decisive step in this direction, because “it is located next to Ukraine”.
