Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the preparation of negotiations with representatives of the US and European countries on a political settlement of the war
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he will soon meet in Berlin with representatives of the President of the United States of America Donald Trump, as well as with leaders and officials of European states. The main topic of the negotiations will be reaching a political agreement aimed at ending the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The head of state reported this in his address.
According to the president, before the trip he will hear the final report of the head of the Ukrainian negotiating team and secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, as well as other members of the team who have already held a number of contacts within the framework of the peace process.
At the same time, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov, together with representatives of the defense and security sector, will work on issues related to future security guarantees for Ukraine. In addition, Ukrainian government officials continue consultations with American and European partners on the country’s post-war reconstruction and its further development.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the key stage will be his personal meetings with representatives of the President of the United States of America and with European leaders, during which the basis of future peace will be discussed – a political agreement to end the war.
The Head of State noted that Ukraine now has a real opportunity to end the war, emphasizing that the authorities are making every effort to ensure that the peace achieved is fair and worthy for the country.
The President also emphasized the importance of creating reliable security guarantees, primarily those that will make it impossible for Russia to invade the territory of Ukraine again. He assured that during the Berlin meetings, the Ukrainian side will work as actively and constructively as possible with all partners capable of contributing to the conclusion of an acceptable peace agreement.
In addition, Zelenskyy reported that the negotiation process will continue, including new contacts and meetings. According to him, Ukraine’s positions in the negotiations remain strong thanks to the resilience of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the front and the work of Ukrainian enterprises and businesses that provide the army with the necessary weapons.
The peace conference in Berlin, scheduled for December 15th, is organized by German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany previously announced that, in addition to the President of Ukraine, the event will be attended by the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer, as well as a significant number of other European and international politicians.
