Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not support the idea of lowering the mobilization age

Ukraine will face a lack of equipment to provide new military brigades if the conscription age is lowered. About it on December 10 stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

“In the media, there is a lot of talk about lowering the draft age of Ukrainians to go to the front. We should focus on providing the existing brigades with equipment and on training personnel to use this equipment. We should not compensate for the lack of equipment and training with the youth of soldiers.”, he noted.

According to the president, the priority for Ukraine should be to increase the supply of missiles and reduce the military capabilities of Russia, and not to change the age criteria for conscription.

“The goal should be to save as many lives as possible, not to keep weapons in warehouses. The most important thing is to work together on how to end this war. That is our top priority.”, – emphasized Zelensky.

Zelenskyi also recalled the recent meeting in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron and newly elected US President Donald Trump. According to him, during the talks, he emphasized the need to focus on ways to end the war.   Separately, he thanked Trump “for his determination to achieve a just end to this war.”
