We have expanded the possibilities of compensation for destroyed housing: how to get it

From now on, citizens whose houses remained in the occupied territories or in the war zone will be able to receive compensation for damaged or destroyed housing. Previously, this was impossible, because the commission had to inspect the housing before assigning payments. Now the examination will be carried out remotely – special equipment will help in this, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said.
At the regular meeting of the Ministry of Reintegration, the issue of housing for internally displaced persons was discussed. Officials considered a pilot project that allows to confirm the destruction of housing in temporarily occupied territories and combat zones using remote sensing of the Earth – aerial photography. The project was initially implemented in Melitopol.
This tool makes it possible to record destroyed housing in such territories and enter it into the State Real Estate Register for subsequent payment of compensation to the owners.
Entry of destroyed objects into the Register will be carried out by commissions created at executive bodies of local self-government or at regional military administrations after receiving aerial photographs.
“It is very good that a solution has been developed that will allow scaling up this experimental project. After all, for now the main thing is to record the numerous destructions that the enemy has caused to our cities, and not to give him the opportunity to hide these crimes. The collected evidence base can be used in the International Register of Damages for their reimbursement”, – says Iryna Vereshchuk.
