You can now upload videos to the Gemini app

Google has added the ability to upload videos to the Gemini app for chatbot analysis. The new function works similarly to the analysis of videos by links on YouTube, informs 9to5Google.

Users will be able to upload videos from the gallery or file system via the “+” button, after which the chatbot will be able to either summarize the content in its entirety or answer questions about specific segments or details of the video. If the function is already active, the interface will show the possibility of selecting video files. If not, you will be able to download only the image. At this stage, the feature is not yet available to everyone: its appearance depends on the user account and the type of device.

Previously, Gemini already received the ability to analyze videos from Google Drive. The interface is implemented in the format of a familiar chat window. A chatbot, for example, can view a conference recording and compile a list of all the tasks mentioned. For this, the video must contain English subtitles – without them, the system will not be able to recognize the content.

The function can be used both in the Drive preview window and after opening the video in a new tab. It is available to users of Google Workspace and Google One with an AI Premium subscription, as well as owners of Gemini Business and Enterprise tariffs. The rollout of the innovation continues gradually and may take several weeks.
