There are currently no plans to change the mobilization age in Ukraine. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in the Verkhovna Rada.
The president emphasized that the mobilization age will not be lowered. At the same time, citizens who have not yet reached this age are offered the opportunity to enter into contracts with incentive conditions and motivational packages.
“The Ministry of Defense and the military command must present to our society a new system of contracts for service in the Armed Forces for citizens who have not reached the mobilization age, but want to prove themselves in the defense of the homeland. These contracts will have a tangible motivational component. Our state is not preparing to lower the mobilization age. Based on of new contractual approaches, we must gradually move to the formation of the army to a greater extent through contracts, and not only through mobilization, “ – said the president.
Zelenskyi also announced that there will be a change in approaches to management in the army. In addition, the post of military ombudsman should be created – this should be a person “who enjoys the trust of the military.”
Earlier, the adviser to the head of the Office of the President, Serhii Leshchenko, said that representatives of both the Democratic and Republican parties in the USA insist on intensifying mobilization in Ukraine, in particular, lowering the age threshold to 18 years.
Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov commented on this. For him in words, mobilization in Ukraine continues clearly in accordance with the law, the Verkhovna Rada. From time to time, Kyiv holds consultations with international partners who want to find out why men aged 18 to 25 are not mobilized in Ukraine.
