Zelensky plans to participate in the Rammstein meeting in Germany: Spiegel

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, plans to personally attend the Ramstein-style meeting to appeal to Western partners for additional supplies of weapons to counter Russian aggression. As reported by the publication Spiegel, Zelensky intends to emphasize the importance of supporting Ukraine at this critical moment.

The meeting is scheduled for next Friday and will take place at the US Air Force base in Ramstein, Germany. The Ukrainian leader seeks support, in particular for the supply of long-range missiles and strengthening air defense.

Berlin emphasizes that this visit by Zelensky to the meeting of defense ministers of countries supporting Ukraine will be a political signal about the seriousness of the situation at the front. It will also give the meeting a new political dimension, because earlier such events had a rather working nature.

It is expected that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov will also take part in the meeting. He has been on a tour of allied countries for several days now, discussing the possibilities of further military support for Kyiv. In Berlin, Umerov is scheduled to meet with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius to discuss the possibility of providing new weapons.

Zelenskyi’s visit to the 24th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, known as the Ramstein format, will take place on September 6. This will be the first meeting in this format since June, when strengthening Ukrainian air defense was discussed. The contact group unites representatives of more than 50 countries of the world, who coordinate efforts to provide Ukraine with the necessary military equipment and weapons.
