Zelenskyy congratulates Rutte on becoming NATO Secretary General

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, expressed gratitude to Jens Stoltenberg for his support to Ukraine during his tenure as NATO Secretary General, and also congratulated his successor, Mark Rutte, on the start of a new stage. This is the president wrote on the X social network on October 1.

Zelenskyi emphasized the importance of Stoltenberg’s role in uniting the Alliance countries in support of Ukraine and strengthening its Armed Forces.

“I deeply appreciate his personal efforts to unite Allies to help Ukraine win and strengthen the Armed Forces. Ukraine’s course towards NATO membership is irreversible, and we remain committed to that goal.”, – wrote the President.

He also congratulated Mark Rutte on his appointment as NATO Secretary General, wishing him success in his new role. The President expressed hope for productive cooperation to strengthen Euro-Atlantic security and advance Ukraine on the way to full membership in the Alliance.

It will be recalled that Mark Rutte officially assumed the post of Secretary General of NATO on October 1. The ceremony of transfer of powers from Jens Stoltenberg took place at the headquarters of the Alliance in Brussels. Rutte emphasized that Ukraine will be among NATO’s top priorities, and stated that its rightful place is in the Alliance.
