Zelenskyy summed up the results of the G7 summit in Canada
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi summed up the results of the G7 summit, which took place from June 15 to 17, 2025 in Canada.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked international partners for clear decisions on increasing military support and for new aid packages financed by frozen Russian assets. Zelenskyi also emphasized that the partners are not limited to the current defense of Ukraine, but are also ready to participate in its restoration after the end of the war.
Separately, the president thanked for the sanctions measures aimed at the economic sources supporting Russia’s war. In particular, the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation, individuals and more than 40 companies that contribute to the circumvention of already existing restrictions have been sanctioned.
“Thank you to everyone who helps us fight against Russian aggression and, together with Ukraine, builds a strong security architecture for the future.” – noted Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
We will remind that the summit ended on June 17. Volodymyr Zelensky also took part in the summit, but he had to leave Canada early due to Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities, as well as the fact that US President Donald Trump canceled a planned personal meeting.
Despite his early departure, Trump made several statements, in particular regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine. He described Russia’s exclusion from the G8 as a “mistake,” arguing that its membership could have prevented the invasion of Ukraine. In addition, Trump said that he is in no hurry to introduce new sanctions, as he is waiting for a possible “deal” to end the war.
