10 people died due to a large-scale fire at a ski resort in Turkey
In Turkey, a large-scale fire broke out in a hotel in the ski resort of Kartalkaya, located in the Bolu region. As a result of the tragedy, 10 people died, another 32 were injured, informs Daily Sabah.
The fire started in the restaurant of the 12-story hotel, where 234 guests were at that time. The fire spread very quickly, which caused panic among people. A significant number of fire brigades, medics and helicopters were dispatched to the scene.
Bolu Governor Abdulaziz Aydin noted that some people died due to panic and attempts to escape. According to him, it was possible to partially contain the fire, but liquidation work continues.
The Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya reported that 267 employees of various services were involved in extinguishing the fire. At the same time, Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc confirmed that six prosecutors have been appointed to investigate the incident, and an expert commission has been established.
A field hospital has been set up on the spot, where assistance is provided to the wounded. The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and assured that the government is closely monitoring the development of events and provides the necessary support to the victims.
