23% of Ukrainian schoolchildren in Poland chose the Russian language exam
Last week in Poland, eighth-graders took exams in Polish language, mathematics and foreign languages. At the same time, the last exam is optional, that is, schoolchildren could choose a language. Most Ukrainian eighth-graders took English. However, almost every fourth (23.4%) chose the Russian language for the foreign language exam. This is somewhat less than in 2023 (25.9%).
According to published statistics Ministry of Education of Poland, 97.7% of all eighth-grade graduates passed English on the foreign language exam. Among Ukrainian eighth-graders, this figure was 75.4%.
Another 1.9% of students in Poland chose German, and 0.4% chose French, Italian, Russian and other languages.
The foreign language exam was held on May 16. Its results, as well as the results of other exams that took place last week, will become known only on July 3. Each student will have access to the results with an individual login and password. The results of the examination must be published on the portal by 10 o’clock in the morning https://ziu.gov.pl/login.
It should be noted that Ukrainian children, as foreigners, had several concessions during exams. In particular, math tasks and foreign language test questions were duplicated in Ukrainian. Also, schoolchildren from Ukraine had more time to write the Polish language exam.
In 2024, the exam for eighth-graders in Poland consisted of more than 214,500 students from about 11,200 schools. More than 11.6 eighth graders are students who are citizens of Ukraine.
