40 million hryvnias embezzled by Kyiv City State Administration officials returned to Kyiv budget
In Kyiv, 40 million hryvnias were returned to the capital’s budget, which were stolen within the framework of the program “Care. Towards the people of Kyiv”. This was reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko.
“These are funds that were allocated for palliative care within the framework of the program “Care. Towards the people of Kyiv”. They were already appropriated by the former head of the social policy department of the Kyiv City State Administration, who, together with his deputies, organized a scheme to embezzle budget funds,” Tkachenko wrote.
As part of the criminal case opened in the spring of this year, investigators established the embezzlement of 75 million hryvnias intended for palliative patients and Kyiv residents with disabilities. Instead of providing assistance, officials directed budget funds to purchase expensive cars and real estate.
The persons involved in the case agreed to cooperate with the investigation and compensate for the damages caused. As a result, 40 million hryvnias have already been returned to the capital’s budget.
This is not the final amount: in November, the city received another 20 million hryvnias, and the total amount of funds returned in this case currently amounts to 60.5 million hryvnias. The procedure for returning stolen budget funds is ongoing.
Previously, law enforcement officers exposed a large-scale scheme organized by officials of the State Special Communications Service and representatives of private companies during the procurement of drones for the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The state’s losses were then estimated at more than 90 million hryvnias.
