41 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation are involved in corruption cases: Oleksandr Klymenko

The Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Oleksandr Klymenko reported that 41 current MPs of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation were suspected of corruption crimes.

According to him, over the ten years of work of anti-corruption bodies in Ukraine, suspicions have been declared against a total of 79 current and former parliamentarians. One of the most high-profile cases among current MPs was the suspicion of the leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, whom the investigation links to bribing deputies during parliamentary votes.

Klymenko noted that law enforcement officers drew attention to this case back in November 2025, when “information appeared about attempts in the Verkhovna Rada to bribe deputies” in order to have them leave the Servant of the People faction or vote contrary to the position of the monomajority. According to him, the relevant information was obtained within the framework of other criminal proceedings.

The head of the SAPO specified that the investigation had at its disposal materials from secret investigative and search actions that confirmed the facts of bribery.

“Therefore, we turned to the Prosecutor General, and on November 27, 2025, information was entered into the ERDR on this fact,” he explained.

At the same time, Klymenko admitted that the practice of unofficial payments to deputies existed even before the start of the full-scale war. At certain periods, such amounts reached up to $20,000 per month, but in the first half of 2022, these payments ceased. Later, they resumed in much smaller amounts.

“Deputies received $1,000–2,000 per month for voting for certain bills, later the amounts increased to $5,000, and in case of violations, fines were applied, after which the payments were reduced to $3,000,” Klymenko reports.
