EU and the world

46% of Germans no longer want to help Ukraine

Almost half of the surveyed Germans no longer wish to support Ukraine either with weapons or financially. About this testify the results of a poll conducted by the Insa public opinion research institute for t-online.

46% of respondents believe that Germany should stop providing both military and financial aid to Ukraine. Support the provision of both weapons and funds – 28% of respondents. Another 7% advocate only financial aid, and 8% – exclusively for the supply of weapons. At the same time, 6% could not decide on an answer, and 3% said that they did not care.

Sociologists have found differences in attitudes depending on gender. 51% of women and 40% of men want to give up support for Ukraine. At the same time, 35% of men and 22% of women are in favor of continuing the provision of weapons and money. Interestingly, among young people aged 18-29, the majority (57%) believe that the next government should stop aid to Ukraine. On the other hand, only 28% of respondents share this position among people over 70 years old.

Regional differences are also significant. Support for aid to Ukraine is greater in western Germany: here, 42% of respondents want to stop the supply of weapons and money. In Eastern Germany, this indicator is much higher – 61%. At the same time, 30% of residents of western lands are in favor of continued support for Ukraine, while only 21% of residents in the east support it.
