80% of Ukrainian enterprises are ready for power outages: National Bank Chairman
80% of Ukrainian enterprises already have generators and alternative power sources, so they are ready for possible power outages. This was reported by the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pyshny during his speech at the Kyiv Security Forum.
“The situation is radically different from 2022 due to the unique experience and phenomenal adaptability of business. According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 80% of enterprises are ready for power outages – they have generators and alternative power sources. The business that survived in 2022 is operating on schedule today, Pyshny said.
At the same time, he noted that the power supply restrictions caused by Russian strikes will negatively affect the economy. Pyshny recalled that at the end of October, the NBU adjusted the forecast for the electricity deficit due to the consequences of the shelling: in the fourth quarter of this year it may reach 4%, and in 2026 – 3%.
The NBU Chairman also reported that since 2022, Ukrainian banks have financed projects to create new generation capacities of almost 1.3 MW, and are also developing solutions for energy storage and heat production with a capacity of about 1.4 MW. In addition, over the past two years, the country has seen steady growth in lending — the volume of hryvnia loans has increased by more than 30% annually, while the level of problem loans remains at a historically low level. “The full implementation of most regulations in the financial sector is planned by the end of 2027. Today, the compliance of banking regulation with EU standards is estimated at over 78%, while before the war it was only 50%”, – the head of the NBU added.
