A court in Lviv has taken into custody without bail a customs officer suspected of murdering a military CCC officer.

The Lychakiv District Court of Lviv selected a measure of restraint for Lviv customs officer Andriy Trush, who is suspected of fatally wounding a serviceman of the territorial recruitment and social support center.

The prosecutor requested that Trush be held in custody without bail, arguing that the suspect could hide from pre-trial investigation bodies or the court, destroy evidence, obstruct criminal proceedings, and commit other criminal acts offense.

During his speech in the courtroom, the suspect stated that he allegedly voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement officers and asked to choose a milder measure of restraint for him. His lawyer insisted on 24-hour house arrest. As Trush said, before the conflict with the military of the CCC, he and his brother were drawing up documents about the death of their grandmother. After that, according to him, the military began to push them, beat them and used tear gas canisters against them.

According to the lawyer, Trush’s deceased grandmother “was like a mother to him,” so he is “unable” to comment on the case. As a result, the court ruled to take the suspect into custody for 60 days without the right to post bail.

On April 2, on Patona Street in Lviv, during an awareness event, Trush stabbed a serviceman of the Galicia-Frankivsk RTCC and SP in the neck with a knife, and then fled. The victim was hospitalized with critical damage to the carotid artery. Despite resuscitation measures, he died. Later, the police detained the attacker. The State Customs Service confirmed that the detainee was their employee.
