On the evening of Saturday, April 4, law enforcement officers in Rivne detained a man who threatened to detonate two grenades. This was reported by the Rivne region police.
According to law enforcement officials, at about 8:30 p.m., a National Guard serviceman contacted the police and reported that during a check on Soborna Street in Rivne, a 43-year-old resident of the village of Orzhiv pulled out a grenade and began threatening to blow himself up.
The leadership of the Main Police Department and the district administration, the investigative and operational group, explosives technicians, special forces of the RPO and KORD, as well as patrol police, immediately left for the scene.
“The deputy chief of the Main Police Department, together with the KORD police negotiators and the head of this unit, held negotiations with the attacker for more than three hours. According to their results police detained a man. As it turned out, he was in the status of SZCH (unauthorized abandonment of the unit).
One ammunition, tightened with a tie, is in the river, the other has been neutralized and seized. They will be sent for examination,” the police report.
