A network selling fake gold jewelry under the guise of famous world brands was exposed in Odessa
Detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Odessa region stopped the activities of a group of individuals who organized the illegal sale of gold products and jewelry accessories, passing them off as products of famous world brands through a chain of stores in shopping centers in the region.
A representative of the company that owns the trademark contacted law enforcement and reported that the group of individuals was using the logo of the jewelry brand without permission, which caused significant financial damage to the trademark owners.
Detectives established that the organizers created a network of stores where buyers could purchase counterfeit gold jewelry, and also accepted orders through social networks and specialized applications with delivery throughout Ukraine.
During authorized searches in stores and production facilities, law enforcement officers seized counterfeit jewelry worth a total of almost 4.6 million hryvnias and stopped the operation of the workshop where counterfeits were manufactured under brand logos.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Part 3 of Article 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the illegal use of a mark for goods and services and a company name. Measures are underway to identify all persons involved in criminal activity. Procedural management is carried out by prosecutors of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
