In Ukraine, a new profession has been officially introduced – “Operator for the search for explosive objects (deminer)”. The National Qualifications Agency has approved a professional standard for this specialty that complies with IMAS (International Mine Action Standards). Already, a number of vacancies for deminers in the military and civilian spheres with high salaries are open. About this reported Ministry of Economy.
Until that moment, demining specialists were trained according to programs developed by the operators themselves. Thanks to the new professional standard, there will now be uniform training rules, which will significantly expand the opportunities for training deminers. As part of this, it is planned to carry out a number of measures for the official legalization of the profession.
Also, based on the professional standard, an educational standard will be developed, which will allow to graduate qualified specialists after accreditation by the Ministry of Education and Science.
The standard provides for five levels of training for deminers:
- Basic level — for non-technical examination.
- The next level is for technical inspection.
Further levels include demining areas, buildings and other objects.
There are already many vacancies for deminers in various fields on the labor market. According to large personnel portals, salaries for such specialists vary from 30,000 to 60,000 hryvnias per month, which makes the profession not only in demand, but also highly paid.
