A nuclear center was on fire near Warsaw
A fire broke out in the Polish National Center for Nuclear Research, located in the city of Otwock near Warsaw. As it turned out, it was caused by a gas explosion. About this informs RMF FM.
The gas explosion occurred in one of the laboratories rented by a third-party company. As a result of the explosion and fire, two people were injured.
Rescue services quickly responded to the event, sending 40 firefighters to the scene of the fire. They managed to quickly bring the flame under control and prevent it from spreading to other objects of the center.
Polish firefighters note that the incident does not pose a radiological threat. The fact is that the fire broke out at a considerable distance from the research nuclear reactor, which is located on the territory of the center.
The National Center for Nuclear Research in Otwock is one of the key scientific facilities in Poland engaged in research in the field of nuclear energy. Despite the seriousness of the incident, experts assure that the situation is under control and there is no reason for panic among the population.
The circumstances of the explosion and the reasons that led to it are currently being investigated.
