In the Khmelnytskyi district, a man opened fire on law enforcement officers during a document check. This was reported by the Khmelnytskyi regional police.
The attack occurred on the afternoon of May 15 in the village of Terlivka, Letychiv community. According to preliminary data, law enforcement officers stopped the driver to check his documents. The man was presumably deprived of the right to drive a vehicle by a court decision.
During a conversation with the police, he opened fire. As a result of the shooting, one law enforcement officer died on the spot, and another was injured.
After the attack, the suspect fled. A special police operation is underway in the Khmelnytskyi district to establish his whereabouts and detention.
Investigators, forensic scientists, and the leadership of the regional police are working at the scene. Law enforcement officers are investigating the circumstances and motives of the attack.
