A separate farewell ritual was introduced in parliament for missing defenders
The Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 15029, which introduces a special ritual of farewell to defenders who have gone missing. This was reported by the Ministry of Veterans of Ukraine.
Previously, burials with military honors were not held in cases where the body of a soldier was not found. The new ritual will take place near the cenotaph — a symbolic memorial structure on a grave without an actual burial. These are defenders who were declared dead by the court.
The Ministry of Veterans believes that such changes will make it possible to honor the defenders who cannot be buried due to the absence of a body, and to give their relatives and friends a proper farewell.
In addition, the bill should ensure equal treatment by the state in honoring the memory of all soldiers, regardless of the circumstances of their death and the presence of a body. Next, the document must be submitted to the president for signature.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada as a whole adopted a bill that provides for the creation of branches of the National War Memorial Cemetery in the regions of Ukraine.
