The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and the National Police of Ukraine reported that the well-known Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoiskyi was charged with another serious crime – the organization of contract murder.

According to the investigation, the suspect, acting out of personal revenge, ordered the murder of the director of one of the legal companies for failure to comply with the requirements to annul and invalidate the decisions of the general meeting of shareholders of the open joint-stock company.
To realize his criminal intentions, the suspect involved members of a gang that “specialized” in committing serious and especially serious crimes, including physical violence against competitors.
Police clarifies, which refers to the events of 2003. Then, in August, four men in Feodosia brutally beat and stabbed a lawyer (company director), stabbing him in vital organs. The attackers shot the lawyer in the middle of the day on the way out of the store.
The victim was hit on the head with a metal rod and stabbed in the chest, stomach and back. His wife prevented him from killing the man, and doctors managed to save his life.
Then the law enforcement officers arrested the perpetrators of the contract killing, and sentenced them to 6 to 12 years behind bars. Now the police have established evidence that confirms the identity of the customer.
The investigation into establishing the mastermind of the murder was separated into a separate proceeding. And only on May 8, 2024, Kolomoiskyi was announced as a suspect.
For attempted murder committed by a group of persons on the order of a prior conspiracy, the penalty is imprisonment for a term of up to 15 years or life imprisonment.
Also, 23 searches are being conducted in four regions of the state as part of this proceeding.
Kolomoiskyi is already in custody for another case.
Currently, prosecutors and investigators are carrying out urgent investigative and procedural actions aimed at exposing all persons involved in the commission of the crime.
The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings continues and is carried out by investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine under the operational support of the Department of Criminal Investigation of the National Police of Ukraine in cooperation with the SBU.
