About 20 thousand people celebrated the New Year together with “Ukrzaliznytsia”
On the eve of the New Year 2026 celebration, about 20 thousand people plan to spend the festive night on the trains of “Ukrzaliznytsia”. Among them, almost 12 thousand passengers have already purchased tickets for regular and additional flights, which will run in all directions of the railway network. During the festive hours, more than 120 trains will run on the country’s tracks, ensuring comfortable and safe transportation of passengers. This was reported by the company’s press service.
As the company notes, a New Year’s trip has its own special meaning for each passenger.
“Someone is heading home tonight, someone is heading to their loved ones, and for someone the train will be the beginning of a new stage in life. Each of our New Year’s passengers has their own story, but this night we are all traveling together”, — the UZ message says.
Ensuring uninterrupted work on the festive night is the responsibility of more than 8,000 railway workers. Among them: track workers, wagon inspectors, station and station workers, train drivers, conductors and train managers, as well as traffic and security service specialists.
This year, “Ukrzaliznytsia” has additionally scheduled 16 trains for the New Year holidays, focusing on the Carpathian direction. This allows Ukrainian military personnel and families with children to have the opportunity to rest and rehabilitate. Additional routes will connect Kyiv with Odessa, Lviv, Dnipro, Truskavets, Uzhhorod, Lutsk and the resort regions of Precarpathia.
Special attention is paid to transfers in Lviv. For example, train No. 291 Kyiv-Lviv arrives in such a way that passengers can transfer to train No. 157/158 Lviv-Chop in 35 minutes, which is the fastest route to Slavsk, Volovets, Svalyava and Mukachevo. Train No. 289 Kyiv-Lviv arrives at 07:40, which gives time for coffee before boarding a modern diesel train to Vorokhta via Yaremche and Bukovel.
In addition, two specially converted children’s carriages have been added to train No. 95/96 Kyiv-Yasinya. This route is one of the most popular among families traveling to the Carpathians.
