According to the materials of the SBU, Anatoliy Shariy received 15 years in prison in absentia

Absentee blogger Anatoliy Sharia condemned up to 15 years of imprisonment based on the evidence base collected by the Security Service of Ukraine. The Vinnytsia City Court made the relevant decision on June 4, 2025.

According to the case file, from the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Shariy was involved in information sabotage organized by FSB representatives against Ukraine. It is about his participation in the preparation and distribution of staged video recordings of interrogations of Ukrainian prisoners of war conducted by the Russian military.

The investigation established that Shariy provided instructions to the occupiers regarding the format of the filming and the formulation of questions to the captives. After the recording, he edited the materials, removing from the footage scenes that could discredit the Russian Federation, including signs of torture.

The investigation found out that the contact with the Russian side was made through Anton Shevtsov, the former head of the Main Department of the National Police in the Vinnytsia region, who is currently hiding in Sevastopol and is suspected of treason. It was Shevtsov who gave Sharia videos of Ukrainian military interrogations, which were later edited and placed on his information resources.

On the basis of the collected evidence, Anatolii Shariy and Anton Shevtsov were found guilty of ch. 2 Art. 28, ch. 2 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — high treason, committed by a group of persons under martial law according to a prior conspiracy. Also, as part of the sentence, a special confiscation was applied to Sharia: his domain name and author’s channel on YouTube were transferred to the state.
