Those accused of preparing for the murder of the First Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine will be tried in Kyiv

The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office referred to the court an indictment against a 37-year-old Kyivan, a 29-year-old resident of Kyiv region and their 22-year-old accomplice. They are accused of preparing for the intentional murder of the First Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine, as well as an unfinished attempt to purchase firearms with which they planned to commit a crime.

The investigation established that in October 2024, a woman who was seriously injured in a road accident died in one of the capital’s hospitals. That day, the First Deputy Minister, an anesthesiologist, was on duty at the medical facility. Despite the fact that the patient was seriously injured in the accident, her friends decided that the doctor was responsible for the death, and decided to kill him.

For this purpose, the defendants followed the doctor, rented cars and an apartment in the residential complex where he lived, and tried to purchase a pistol of the “Stechkin” system, with which they planned to shoot. Their intentions were thwarted by law enforcement officers who detained the perpetrators while handing over money for weapons.

Their actions are qualified under Part 1 of Art. 14 p. 12 h. 2 art. 115, Part 2 of Art. 28 part 3 of Art. 15 and h.ch. 1, 2 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition, during the investigation, it was found that two of them were storing amphetamine and PVP for the purpose of sale, which is qualified under Part 3 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Currently, the indictment has been submitted to the court for consideration of the merits of the case. All three accused are in custody. The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SU GUNP in Kyiv together with the employees of the UKR of the GUNP and the SBU.
