After meeting with Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with European leaders
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that after talks with US President Donald Trump, he had a telephone conversation with key European leaders. The head of state stated this during a briefing after the meeting at the White House.
“After the meeting with the president, we had a conversation with our partners — with the main leaders of the coalition. This is one of the topics of the conversation — security guarantees. We are counting on US leadership. We also talked about the PURL program,” — Zelenskyy told reporters.
According to him, the leaders of leading European states and institutions joined the conversation: Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission; António Costa, President of the European Council; Alexander Stubb, President of Finland; Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Norway; Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; Giorgia Maloni, Prime Minister of Italy; Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of Poland; Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General.
Antonio Costa confirmed that he had a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders after his meeting with Donald Trump:
“We had conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders after his meeting with President Trump. Our common goal remains unchanged – a just and lasting peace for Ukraine”.
He stressed that military, financial and diplomatic support, as well as security guarantees, are crucial to achieving peace. The European Union, he said, will continue to work with partners to achieve this goal.
“At the next European Council meeting (#EUCO), we will discuss concrete steps to strengthen our support for Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia in the name of peace”, Costa added.
