Aidos Sadikov, an opposition journalist from Kazakhstan, died in Kyiv

On June 18, an attempt was made on Kazakh journalist Aidos Sadikov in Kyiv. An unknown person opened fire on the car where the opposition journalist was with his wife. After the attempt, Sadikov was hospitalized. He was in a coma. On July 2, the journalist’s wife reported his death.

“Aidos Sadikov left us today at 3:00 a.m. outside Kyiv. My dear husband, the father of our three children, a great son of the Kazakh people. Aidos gave his life for Kazakhstan, accepted a martyr’s death at the hands of killers. For thirteen days Aidos fought for life in intensive care , but his death was not a miracle on Tokayev’s conscience.” – the journalist’s wife wrote on her Facebook page.

It will be recalled that the investigation suspected two people of attempted murder. They managed to escape from Ukraine. Later, one of the suspects, Altai Zhakanbayev, turned himself in to law enforcement officers in Kazakhstan.

The country’s president Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev previously stated that Kazakhstan is ready to join the investigation into the attack on Sadikov.
