An exhibition of war paintings created by Ukrainian children opened in Bulgaria
Children perceive this world differently than adults. They trust their feelings more and have much fewer stereotypes in their heads. They have not yet formed a protective shell that protects them from the injustices of the outside world. That is why children take everything to heart. On the other hand, they experience this world much more delicately. One of the proofs of this is the exhibition “Children of War”, which is currently underway at the Ivan Vazov National Theater in Sofia (Bulgaria).
In one of the theater halls, paintings created by Ukrainian children who saw with their own eyes what a real war is like are exhibited. On the one hand, the works of young artists contain traces of the suffering experienced – spiders and cobwebs, shell casings and the tired eyes of soldiers appear on the canvases as symbolic images. On the other hand, all the paintings seem to be filled with light, contain bright colors that hint to us about the light at the end of the tunnel, about a happy ending, about the fact that good always wins over evil.

“Children of War” is 25 canvases created by children aged 8 to 16 years. The organizer of the exhibition is the Association for the Development of International Relations ADRUM. This public organization is the initiator of various contests, including the #МАЛЮЮUA festivals. The authors of works presented in Bulgaria are winners or participants of the festival. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the organization of the exposition.
The exhibition in the capital of Bulgaria will last until June 14, so everyone who is in Sofia or plans to go there can come to delight the eye with children’s work, which, despite the artists’ little life experience, is filled with a very deep meaning.
