Crimes against Ukrainian children: terrible statistics of the Prosecutor General’s Office (video)

War always brings untold suffering, but its brutality is especially evident when it comes to the smallest and most vulnerable members of our society. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine, children have become victims of aggression, which not only takes their lives, but also destroys their future.

In accordance with data According to the Office of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine, which were made public on September 2, since the beginning of the war, 572 children have died, another 1,568 children have received serious injuries that will leave traces on them for life.

These numbers are extremely painful and impressive, but they are only part of the big picture. More than 19,500 children were forcibly deported, deprived of their homes and separated from their families. Their fates became even more uncertain, because many of them ended up in foreign countries without proper care and protection. This is not only a humanitarian disaster, but also a profound tragedy that will reverberate in the background of history for a long time to come.

Equally important is the destruction of the education infrastructure. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, more than 3,400 educational institutions were destroyed or damaged. These institutions not only became victims of bombings and shelling, but also became symbols of the loss of future for thousands of children.

Currently, 4,000 cases of war crimes against children are being investigated. This is a job that requires a lot of effort and resources. The Prosecutor General’s Office reports that 54 persons have already been suspected of committing these crimes. Of them, 44 persons have already become the object of judicial proceedings.

In addition, the investigation was completed and the trial of 44 suspects was started. At the moment, 31 war criminals have already received sentences for their crimes against Ukrainian children. This is an important step towards restoring justice, but there is still much work to be done. The justice system continues to fight to punish all those responsible, as well as to prevent such crimes from happening again in the future.

The Prosecutor General’s Office continues its work on the investigation and prosecution of war criminals. It is important to understand that these efforts are part of a larger process of restoring justice for victims. At the level of the international community, support for Ukraine in its fight against aggression and ensuring punishment for the guilty should also be intensified.

We must remember that each number is not just a statistic, but a real tragedy for thousands of families who lose their children, their future heroes.
