The explosion occurred at 08:45 local time at the warehouse of the STV Group plant in Polichka, Svitavsky District. This enterprise specializes in the production of large-caliber ammunition, the repair of military equipment and the supply of spare parts.

“It was an explosion at an ammunition warehouse. People were evacuated. There is one victim”, — said the spokeswoman of the rescue service, Alena Kisyala

There is preliminary information about one seriously injured person who was evacuated to the hospital by helicopter. People were evacuated from areas adjacent to the scene of the incident. The authorities assure that there is no threat to the local population. Part of the roads near the place of the explosion were closed.

The cause of the incident is initially called a violation of the technological process. It is reported that the warehouse where the explosion occurred not only stored, but also produced large-caliber ammunition.

We would like to remind you that the Czech Republic plays a key role in providing Ukraine with ammunition, organizing large-scale purchases and coordinating international initiatives in this area. The country’s government, together with EU and NATO partners, is implementing a project to purchase 155 mm and 122 mm caliber artillery shells.

In addition, the Czech Republic is actively increasing its own production of ammunition for artillery and armored vehicles. Local defense enterprises are increasing the production of shells and modernizing Soviet-style stocks for transfer to Ukraine. Thanks to this, the Czech Republic not only strengthens Ukraine’s defense capabilities, but also strengthens its position in the European military-industrial complex.
